The complexity of people

Every human being is different.

We have all had incredibly varying life experiences and backgrounds, shaping us to be the unique people we are.

It is almost impossible to decide from the outside whether someone has addiction problems without a tallied record of their actions and thoughts.

However, there are often some commonalities in people with addiction problems.

The Grasshopper Philosophy identifies the following points of common ground, to which individuals may adhere to multiple, just one, or none:

  • Early life exposure to problematic substances and behaviors

  • Trauma

  • Sadness

  • Loneliness

  • Diminished ability to proactively solve emotional problems

  • Disconnection with the world and surroundings

  • Cultural influence

"According to Grasshopper Philosophy, even if someone doesn't share the same exact traits as others, they can still deeply empathize and connect with their feelings and experiences."
