Learning

"Building a lasting understanding that can endure the trials of time."

Grasshopper Methodology doesn't go for quick fixes. What it focuses on is building a strong foundation through quick wins, and going from there to get to the Four Goals.

For Grasshopper, this means having a framework that we operate our education in:

  • First principles teaching: Sharing truths about addiction and life with individuals facing problems, truths they can't reason their way out of.

  • Scientific learning: Using education tools, techniques, and materials adhering to rigorous standards, akin to those in universities and workplaces, assessed through study and data.

  • Connection: Always remembering to build a relationships between individuals and their desired world, not with the words on paper.

Fundamental aspects of the Learning Strategy include:

  1. Being okay with failing

  2. Embracing what works for us

  3. Asking for help when we need it

  4. Bringing things down to their simplicity

  5. Taking things at our own pace

  6. Striving for progress, not perfection

  7. Having goals

  8. Accepting structured guidelines that can help us, not block us

  9. Being okay with not understanding in the short-term

  10. Keeping our eye on the long-term, always

  11. Not getting stuck in learning in books, but also applying it to our lives

  12. Learning to love the process of learning
