Terminology
There are various terms used throughout the Grasshopper Program Base, not all of which are immediately clear. We take some time to define them on this page.
Addiction: Grasshopper Philosophy simply defines addiction as "the continued engagement in actions and thinking that lead to damaging or unwanted consequences."
Individual: Grasshopper Philosophy maintains that labels such as "patient" and "addict" are counterproductive. Instead, we choose to address those seeking help as individuals, or people.
Recovery: the process of overcoming addiction and achieving a healthier and better life.
Treatment: strategies employed to address, manage, and recover from addiction and its effects.
Traditional programs: the established recovery programs, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and its various 12-step derivatives.
